Patricia Fernández Martín holds a PhD in Spanish Language and Literature (2015) and in Religious Sciences (2023) from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. In her first doctoral thesis, linked to several editions of the PROGRAMES project (dir. José Luis Girón Alconchel), current PROLEGRAMES (dir. Francisco Javier Herrero Ruiz de Loizaga), Fernández Martín proposed for the first time the application of the prototype theory to the concept of verbal periphrasis in the Spanish Golden Age; her second doctoral thesis seeks to understand the Christian religious experience of women throughout history, through the specific study of a set of texts written in Spanish by Franciscan and Carmelite nuns mainly of the Golden Age.
All this work is reflected, first, in two monographs, Las perífrasis verbales del español: una perspectiva histórica, published in Arco/Libros (2019) and Perífrasis verbales de infinitivo en el español áureo: entre las unidades fraseológicas y las estructuras disjuntas (Centro Virtual Cervantes del Instituto Cervantes, 2018); and, second, in various articles in journals specialized in philosophy, such as Anales del Seminario de Historia de la Filosofía; Claridades. Revista de Filosofía y Araucaria. Revista Iberoamericana de Filosofía, Política, Humanidades y Relaciones Internacionales; in religion, such as Journal of the Sociology and Theory of Religion; Itinerantes. Revista de Historia y Religión y Revista Cultura & Religión; and in gender, such as Investigaciones Feministas.
Finally, Patricia Fernández Martín is a Professor (“Titular de Universidad”) of Spanish Language, in the Department of Language and Literature Teaching (“Filologías y su Didáctica”) of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (“Facultad de Formación de Profesorado y Educación”) of the Autonomous University of Madrid.
