María Aboal López

PhD in Spanish Literature from the Complutense University of Madrid, she is currently Associate Professor at the International University of La Rioja. Her research has focused on the representation of the body, illness, death and madness and their relationship with female authority. Her most recent publications include "Entre la voz y el silencio: autoridad femenina en La Sigea de Carolina Coronado" (2020), her collaboration in the second volume of Literatura y Medicina: Teoría y Praxis (1800-1930), Histeria, mujer y literatura en el siglo XIX (2020) or La muerte en Galdós (2015).

She has previously participated as a researcher in the R&D Project "Power, Spirituality and Gender (Castile: 1400-1550): the Emergence of Female Authority in the Court and the Convent" (Ref. FFI2015-63625-C2-1-P, 2016-2019) and has conducted research stays at the University of Porto and the University of Geneva.
